Biography
Hosni is an Egyptian writer and translator, interested in comparative literature and cultural studies who published two literary translations from English to Arabic : Hemingway’s The Old Man and The Sea (Jan 2016) and Steinbeck’s The Pearl (Sept 2016), both published by Afaq-Cairo Books.
Hosny regularly writes in Arabic on literature, cinema, and photography for a diverse range of Arabic newspapers and websites. He also often contributes in English to the only English language blog dedicated to Arabic literature, “Arablit”.
His first novel Maps of Jonas (Kharā’it Yūnus) was supported by a grant from the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture in 2016 and published by Dar Al Saqi, 2018.
